LEGACY

Akindale was established in 2006 by the late John Hettinger, who was not only a well-known fixture in the New York racing community but also a true pioneer in the essential and important area of thoroughbred aftercare. As a passionate and dedicated advocate for horses, Hettinger committed hundreds of acres of his cherished Akindale Farm to create a safe and welcoming haven specifically for former thoroughbred racehorses. The horses he loved so deeply now have a nurturing home and the promising prospect of a new and fulfilling future on the land he cherished with an equally profound passion and an unwavering commitment to their well-being.
